9/11 Poem

The hero’s the villian’s

The terrorists the firefighters

All the brave and courageous people

All the debris and clouds of dust

Everybody wanted a little hope

Nothing but scared, frightened people

People running in two different dirrections

THIS WAS 9/11

Game Board

Pull a card and who pulls the highest card goes first. Put your game piece at start. Pull a card from the deck to see how many spaces to move. Then draw from the colorful deck and answer the question. If you get the question right then move the number of spaces you got. Then keep on doing that. When someone gets a home run they win. If you get a jack pot move to nearest base in front of you!

My Double Play

The sun was shining bright on a hot spring day. My entire family was there. It was my first baseball game ever. I was playing right field. Davis was up at bat. His dugout was screaming and cheering him on. I didn’t know whether or not, if I wanted to hit it my way or not. The pitcher threw the ball, “Ball 1”, the umpire yelled. “Ball 2”, he yelled again then on the next pitch “dink” I heard the sound of the bat and it caught my attention and I looked up and followed the ball. I put my glove in the air hoping I would catch it. Then I caught the ball. The runner on first base started to second, then he noticed I caught it so he went back to first base, but the ball was there first. I was so happy when I saw the ump call him out to end the inning. I got so many high fives in the dugout, I couldn’t help but smile.

Battle of Long Island

It was August 27, 1776, in Long Island,New York. It was the largest battle of the Revolutionary War. The British were the first to attack on that morning. The colonists General was George Washington, and the British General was William Howe. The British sent a small force to the center of the colonists defense. While the colonists were focused on the small attack the British came from the East and attacked. Instead of finishing the fight the British leaders halted the attack, because they didn’t want to lose any more men. On August 29th Washington tried to save his army. He told his men to stay quiet and make their way across East River to Manhattan, but when the British woke up they were gone. The Colonists were outnumbered by the British 20,000 people to 10,000 people. The British army killed 300 colonists, wounded 800, and captured 1,079. On the other hand the colonists killed 64 of the British, wounded 293, and captured 31. I remember it like it was yesterday.
